Back To School

Today the weather was very sunny and tropical. Quite unlike the weekend when I thought the rain would never stop. Today the reality set in that the two months of vacation would be over in a few days. School here in sweet Trinidad will resume on Tuesday 2nd September 2008. So the last minute rush and frenzy for back to school supplies was very evident as I went to San Fernando. For some reason I was now in the last minute rush too! On the pavement of Sando the vendors engaged in their usual hustle trying to entice potential buyers to buy from them. The book stores were crammed with parents trying to secure their kids books and other stuff. In fact it was the same in the shoe stores and anywhere else school supplies was sold. Many parents complained about the high cost of books and the other supplies. In spite of this the dollars quickly turned over to the suppliers as every parent desires to have his/her child ready for the re-opening of school. As for me I still have a few things to still buy. By Friday and over the weekend it will be real drama as it will be a kind of last lap: there will be a shortage of transport to and from the city centres and the stores will be bursting at the seams with parents. But in the end it will work out as our darlings return back to school. In the meantime enjoy the remainder of the vacation. Before you know it the kids will be at school.Page copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape
